Before our session/booking
I know that the booking and scheduling process can be
overwhleming for clients, so let's talk about how booking a newborn
session works so there won't be any surprises when you inquire about
your session!
There is no time too early to inquire and book when it comes to
newborn sessions. I only take a few newborn sessions a month, and
they usually fill up pretty quickly. I recommend booking as early in
your second trimester as you're comfortable, but please don't worry if
that time has already passed! I sometimes have last minute openings
so please reach out - even if you have already had your baby! After
you have booked your session, I add your due date to my calendar
and you're all set!
Once your sweet new addition arrives, I will have you send me an
email or give me a call, and we will get your session scheduled. I
prefer for baby to be anywhere from 5-21 days old, but have
photographed newborns up to 8 weeks old
I will send over a prep packet before your session that goes over every
single aspect and part of the session, gives you tips on how to prep
baby for a smooth session, and even gives wardrobe guidance for
your family. There is a TON of information for my new baby clients!
The session
The morning of your session, you will arrive to my commercial studio and
get comfy. You can make a cup of coffee with the Keurig, or have bottle
of water from the fridge, and a snack if you would like one. I want you to
be as relaxed and at home as possible during our session. I recommend
wearing something comfortable and then changing before the family
portion of your session because it gets very warm in my studio. Then we'll
get started! The unsoothing method that I use takes a little bit longer
than traditional methods of getting baby to sleep, but I promise it works
every time! Do not worry if it feels like baby is more awake than they
have ever been- every single new parent feels that way in their session.
They will eventually drift off to sleep and then we can get to work. I
always start my newborn sessions on the posing table, and then move to
prop shots, then siblings, full family, and then parents. (If your partner
needs to leave for work, or siblings need to get to school, this can
absolutely be adjusted!) I work on baby time, so if baby needs to eat a
few times, or takes a bit to fall asleep, it is absolutely normal and okay.
There is no rushing during newborn sessions. My studio is very kid
friendly and I love having siblings "help me" with my tiny props or felties
so that they feel included and more at ease with having their portrait
taken when it's their turn. I encourage them to get as comfortable as
possible so it doesn't feel scary or overwhelming for them.
After our session
This is the fun part!
After our session is finished, I will edit. your images to perfection and
send you a digital image gallery
within 3 weeks of your session date. After you receive your gallery, you
are more than welcome to share with family or on social media, as well as
print your images. I offer a full range of prints and print products from
my heirloom print company that will be available for. you to see in your
gallery.
And that's it! It's really all that simple!
I try to ensure that my sessions are relaxing, easy to navigate,
and most of all fun!
I cannot wait to meet you and your sweet babes!.
